Microtech Celebrates World Down Syndrome Day 2026

Every year on March 21, people around the world pull on their most colorful, mismatched socks to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day.  This year, the Microtech Welding team joined in.

The date 3/21 was chosen to represent the triplication of the 21st chromosome that characterizes Down syndrome, and the tradition of wearing bright, unique socks grew from the idea that chromosomes, under a microscope, look a lot like a pair of socks.

This year, our crew showed off their wildest socks and held a vote for the best pair.  Microtech also donated to Gigi's Playhouse Fort Wayne, an organization that provides free therapeutic, educational, and career development programs for individuals with Down syndrome and their families in our community.

Behind the fun, there's a real reason this one matters to us.  Our team and many of our customers have families who are part of the Down syndrome community.   This year's theme is "Together Against Loneliness," a reminder that showing up for the people around us matters more than we might think.

Thank you to everyone on the crew who participated.
