Fort Wayne Community Schools Career Academy senior welding students visited Microtech on October 28 as part of their capstone program, a culminating experience designed to prepare students for immediate workforce entry or further education after graduation.

The capstone visit allows students to explore career and learning opportunities across multiple welding companies in the Fort Wayne area.
During their time at Microtech, students observed precision biomedical welding processes, including TIG and laser welding techniques used in medical device manufacturing.
Students also learned about the various career pathways available in specialized micro-welding applications.
The capstone program integrates knowledge and skills learned throughout the students' welding pathway with real-world, hands-on learning opportunities.
Students participating in the capstone experience can earn industry-recognized certifications, licenses, and dual college credits while exploring which welding specializations align with their career goals.

Microtech has supported the FWCS Career Academy's capstone program for years, helping students understand the specialized nature of precision welding work and the opportunities available in medical device manufacturing.
